About this whisky
- Malt type: Single Malt
- Region: Speyside
Built in 1879 the original distillery by the name Aberlour was lost in a fire. In 1945 the distillery was acquired by S. Campbell & Son and mainly produced as part of the blend for the popular (at the time) Clan Campbell and White Heather. The Sherry casked A’Bunadh which was launched in 1997 has greatly boosted the popularity of Aberlour to what we know it to be today. The First Group is the largest transport company in Scotland operating bus and rail across the country, the bottling is a private bottling for the employees of First Group and is a rare find. Typical tasting notes for such a bottle would be aromas of vanilla, honey, apples and plums, the palate flavours of dark chocolate, ginger, and oak with a long finish of fruitcake, toasted almonds and oak spice.
