Built in 1879 the original distillery by the name Aberlour was lost in a fire. In 1945 the distillery was acquired by S. Campbell & Son and mainly produced as part of the blend for the popular (at the time) Clan Campbell and White Heather. The Sherry casked A’Bunadh which was launched in 1997 has greatly boosted the popularity of Aberlour to what we know it to be today. This bottle of “As We Get It” was produced by Ian Macleod Distillers and on the label, we can see a 100 degrees proof from Aberlour, but nowadays in the series of “As We Get It” the origins are not mentioned. This whisky is strongly recommended to be drunk with the slightest dab of water (To open up the flavours). The smell of hay and oak on top is overwhelming with honey and apple at the back, the palate continues with oak but sweet vanilla takes centre stage and stays to a medium long finish still with oak undertones. Simple and unique.
