Venturing into the unknown, The Balvenie distillery embarked on a 26-year journey when they introduced dark roasted malted barley, typically associated with stout production, into their processes. This decision bore fruit in the form of a whisky enriched with an added layer of depth, seamlessly weaving smokiness and oakiness into The Balvenie's iconic honey, vanilla, and citrus profile.
This exceptional creation boasts a profusion of malty undertones, harmoniously blended with the gentle sweetness of brown sugar and vanilla toffee. Infused with the richness of blossom honey, it’s further enhanced by a subtle oaky spiciness. On the palate, one is greeted with a syrupy embrace, an amalgamation of toffee sweetness intertwined with zesty notes of orange peel. This melody is then complemented by the warm embrace of oak-infused vanilla, culminating in a hint of cinnamon and ginger spices. The experience is rounded off with a lingering finish, graced by undulating waves of vanilla and nuanced oak spices.
