This single malt is characterized by its dark peat body, In Scots Gaelic Caoran means ’ Peat Ember’, and the reason for choosing to name this whisky Caoran' is in commemoration to the by gone days when the Glenfiddich malt men would use greater amounts of peat because of coal shortages. The result of this brings an earthy peaty smokiness perfectly complimenting the soft fruity Glenfiddich character. The scents of the last days of summer come through strongly with berries, honey, and ripe apple before the palate of earthy peat smoke and mineral salt some cinnamon undertone, the ending is short and still slightly salty and smokey. A dram in preparation for winter.
