Glenfiddich is one of the single malt pioneers, being the first to market their single malt in 1963, And has since advanced, played and tweaked the art of bottling some of the best single malts out there. The toasted oak reserve gets its name from the American oak barrels which have been ‘toasted’ rather than charred. This toasting gives the whisky a more subtle soft caramelised undertone. The aromas of aromatic woods, sap, vanilla and oak are most notable when opening the bottle, the palate is caramel, créme brûlée, vanilla and oak with a very soft and short finish of créme brûlée and oak. Quite a treat.
