Gulliver’s 47 Toasted & Re-charred Edition

From the Gulliver’s 47 range comes an unpeated English single malt produced at the Cotswolds Distillery, which has been matured in a shaved, toasted and re-charred ex-red wine cask (or “STR cask”, if you want to use the fancy term). This style of cask (pioneered by the late, great Jim Swan) has been gaining popularity among whisky producers across the lands, and it’s not hard to see why from bottlings like this. Lots of caramelised fruit and oaky spices to tuck into, making this an excellent postprandial whisky.
