Laphroaig, founded on the south coast of Islay in 1815, is named after its location and translates to 'broad hollow by the bay'. This iconic distillery, awarded the Royal Warrant by the Prince of Wales in 1994, boasts an intense peaty, smoky, and rich flavour profile that may be considered a acquired taste by some. Its 2012 bottling combines original liquid used for Cairdeas with newer spirit matured in quarter casks, resulting in a complex whisky experience. Produced on Islay, one of the last distilleries to use floor maltings, this Laphroaig boasts an ABV of 51.2% in a 70cl bottle.
