Canadian Club is a renowned Canadian whisky brand with a rich history dating back to the 19th century. Known for its smooth and mellow flavor, Canadian Club is one of the most famous Canadian whiskies worldwide.
Canadian Club was established in 1858 by Hiram Walker, an American entrepreneur who moved to Canada to take advantage of the less stringent liquor laws. The brand was originally known as "Club Whisky" but was renamed "Canadian Club" in 1890 to emphasize its Canadian origin amidst growing popularity in the United States.
Canadian Club is produced at the Hiram Walker & Sons Distillery in Windsor, Ontario. This distillery is one of the oldest and largest in North America, boasting a heritage that spans over 160 years. The whisky is made using a blend of corn, rye, barley malt, and rye malt. The grains are mashed, fermented, distilled, and then aged in white oak barrels for a minimum of three years, although many Canadian Club expressions are aged longer to develop deeper flavors.
The whisky is known for its distinctive smoothness, which comes from the blend of grains and the aging process. Common tasting notes include caramel, vanilla, oak, and subtle spice, with a smooth, clean finish.
