Balblair is owned by the InverHouse distillers, which was bought by Robert ‘Bertie’ Cumming in 1948 after years of staying under the radar. Bertie expanded and modernised the distillery with a modern visitor centre that offers an excellent tour highlighting the distillery's role in Ken Loach’s 2012 movie ‘The Angels’ Share’. Balblair is also committed to reducing its ecological footprint and has changed from oil to gas, perhaps marking a new era for distilleries around the world, now who wouldn’t want to take part in this historic and remarkable change? This 2000 release is noted as having the aromas of baked apple, cinnamon, vanilla, apricot and meadow flowers, the palate is citrus, vanilla, coffee, tobacco and freshly dug earth with a long finish of citrus, smoke, and spice.
