Historical Context
Harmony was launched by Macallan to tie flavour exploration to sustainable packaging. The first release in 2021 was Rich Cacao; the second, late 2022, was Inspired by Intense Arabica, developed with Ethiopian growers, roasters and baristas to mirror coffee profiles in whisky. The whisky maker selected casks that already carried dark-chocolate, roasted-coffee and sweet-oak tones and balanced them with American-oak vanilla so the whisky would sit comfortably beside a cup of coffee. It is the first Macallan to pitch itself directly as a whisky-and-coffee pairing. Because it was an annual, story-led Macallan, bottles moved quickly into specialist and auction channels.
