Clydeside Distillery is a Scotch whisky distillery located on the banks of the River Clyde in Glasgow, Lowland, Scotland. It was founded in 2017 and is currently owned by Morrison Glasgow Distillers. It holds the distinction of being Glasgow's first dedicated single malt whisky distillery to open in over 100 years.
The Clydeside Distillery was built inside the historic Pump House of the former Queen's Dock, a category B-listed building dating from 1877, on Stobcross Road in Glasgow. Construction of the £10.5 million distillery began in 2016 and it opened to the public in November 2017, with the first casks filled that December. The project was led by Tim Morrison, great-grandson of John Morrison, who built the original Queen's Dock and Pump House in the 19th century, giving the venture a direct family link to the site's Victorian industrial past. The distillery marked the return of whisky production to Glasgow after more than a century without an operating malt distillery in the city, and it now combines production with a visitor centre, shop and whisky bar overlooking the Clyde.
Clydeside's core releases are all matured for a minimum of six years and bottled at 46% ABV. Stobcross, the inaugural release, is matured in bourbon casks and shows floral notes, orchard fruit and white pepper. Fortnight is a peated expression with gentle smoke, stone fruit and vanilla balanced by citrus and heather honey, while Napier is sherry cask matured, offering ripe berry, sweet rose, tropical fruit, orange marmalade and cherry. The distillery also releases limited editions in cask-strength and alternative cask finishes, such as rum, tequila and Pedro Ximénez sherry, on a rotating basis.
