Powerscourt Distillery is an Irish whiskey distillery located on the Powerscourt Estate in Enniskerry, County Wicklow, Ireland. It was founded in 2018 and is currently owned by US investment firm Altiva Management Inc., following a 2026 receivership sale. Housed in a converted 1730s mill house, it produces both single malt and single pot still whiskey under the Fercullen brand, whose name recalls "Fercullen" (Fera Cualann), the historic territory that became the manor of Powerscourt.
Powerscourt Distillery opened in 2018 inside the Old Millhouse on the Powerscourt Estate, marking the return of whiskey production to Enniskerry after more than a century. Founding Master Distiller Noel Sweeney oversaw the selection of the distillery's early aged stock, and Paul Corbett has since taken on the role of Distiller & Blender. Whiskey released under the Fercullen name draws on natural spring water and locally sourced barley from the estate, and the site's visitor centre and shop have made it one of the Dublin area's more accessible working distilleries.
In June 2025 the distillery entered receivership after cashflow difficulties and trade disruption linked to global tariff volatility, with debts of around €21.5 million owed to lender PNC Bank on a €25 million loan taken out in 2023 to fund production expansion. The distillery and visitor centre continued operating throughout the process. In January 2026 the receiver agreed a sale of the business — including its bulk whiskey stocks, brands, intellectual property and the leasehold on the distillery and visitor centre — to US-based Altiva Management Inc., with staff expected to transfer to the new ownership.
Powerscourt's whiskey is released under the Fercullen brand, spanning blended, single grain and single malt Irish whiskey: Fercullen Falls, a small-batch blend; Fercullen 15 Year Old Single Grain; Fercullen 21 Year Old Single Malt; and Fercullen The Gates, part of an Estate Series. Fercullen whiskey has picked up international recognition, including a "world's best grain" award in 2025.
