Crafted at the Balvenie Distillery in Dufftown, Speyside, this 17 Year Old DoubleWood embodies a uniquely sweet and honeyed character, subtly touched by light peat smoke – a signature of the Balvenie spirit. Matured initially in traditional American oak casks, it’s then ‘finished’ in European sherry oak, a pioneering process introduced by Balvenie in 1993 that adds layers of rich complexity. The extended maturation deepens the vanilla notes present in the 12 Year Old, resulting in a remarkably smooth and full-bodied whisky. At 43% ABV, this expression showcases the artistry of a distillery still deeply rooted in traditional methods, including on-site malting.
