Distilled on the rugged Islay coast in 1989, this Lagavulin matured for fifteen years before a finishing period in rich Pedro Ximenez casks. The result is a single malt brimming with smoky peat, balanced by notes of dark fruit – raisins and figs – imparted by the sherry wood. Expect a full-bodied whisky with a lingering sweetness and a warming, complex finish. Bottled in 2005 at 43% ABV, it represents a classic expression of Islay character enhanced by Spanish influence.
