About this whisky
- Region:
Nikka Yoichi, born from the vision of Masataka Taketsuru – a pioneer who studied distilling in Scotland – embodies a uniquely Japanese interpretation of Scotch tradition. Established in 1934 on the northern island of Hokkaido, chosen for its strikingly similar climate to Scotland, the Yoichi distillery draws water from the adjacent river, shaping its character. This expression, a vatting of whiskies from the 2000s, delivers a robust and meaty flavour profile, a direct result of Yoichi’s direct-fired stills and worm tub condensation. Expect a whisky that reflects Taketsuru’s ambition to capture “the taste of the wind” – bold, complex, and undeniably spirited, bottled at 57% ABV.
