Port Charlotte 16 Year Old is a powerfully elegant Islay single malt, born from heavily peated barley – around 40ppm – and distilled in Bruichladdich’s unique tall stills. This expression pays homage to the original Port Charlotte distillery, lost in 1929, representing the first spirit distilled by the Murray McDavid team in 2001. Matured over 16 years in a complex arrangement of casks – including refill hogsheads transitioned to bourbon, bourbon reracked into Sauternes, and a variety of sherry, bourbon & virgin oak – it delivers a rich and layered character. Expect a robust, smoky profile balanced with notes of sweet fruit and subtle oak spice at 55.8% ABV.
