Distilled in 1978 on the Islay island of Port Ellen – a distillery now sadly silent – this 25-year-old whisky represents a fleeting legacy of a historic site first established in 1824. Known for a uniquely delicate character amongst its heavily peated Islay peers, Port Ellen employed refill casks which resulted in a spirit less dominated by oak and exceptionally suited to long maturation.
