About this whisky
- Region:
Distilled in March 1978, this St. Magdalene matured for two decades in a single refill European oak cask, yielding a remarkably rare single malt from a lost Lowland distillery. Once a substantial producer primarily for blending, St. Magdalene—also known as Linlithgow—ceased production in 1983 and was sadly demolished, ensuring its whiskies grow ever more coveted. This expression, bottled in 1998, commemorates a century at 64 Waterloo Street, Glasgow, the historic home of United Distillers and Vintners’ Engineering Department. Expect a delicate and nuanced character, reflective of the distillery’s heritage and the long, patient maturation process.
