Auchentoshan 16-Year-Old Limited Edition is a sophisticated and multifaceted single malt, offering a unique experience for the discerning whisky lover. Bottled in 2007, this bottle is a rare treasure from the Auchentoshan Distillery.
Nose: The nose is a captivating tapestry of aromas. Toffee leads the way, complemented by the light and refreshing scents of apple and pear. Delicate notes of light orange, lemon, and vanilla weave through the bouquet, with a subtle presence of malt that speaks of its age. Hints of minimal oak and a late, faint sour note add complexity. Adding water reveals more lemon, nuances of milk chocolate, and intriguing hints of tea or leather, all underpinned by vanilla.
Taste: On the palate, Auchentoshan 16-Year-Old is both full and powerful, delivering a pronounced impact. A blend of tartness and caramel greets the taste buds, followed by a very spicy sensation. The older malt character is evident, accompanied by notes of oak and brown banana. The alcohol tingles slightly, adding to the experience. When water is added, the whisky becomes softer and tarter, with a perfume-like side note, leather, and vanilla.
Finish: The finish is medium to long, leaving a lasting impression. It is characterized by oak and spiciness, with a slightly tart aftertaste and some lemon. Adding water brings out tartness and a minimal hint of leather.
