Glenkinchie as the name suggests is situated just alongside the Kinchie burn (stream) which is 15 miles away from bustling Edinburgh. The Distillery was founded in 1837 by brothers George and John Rate, after starting their distilling on a smaller site in 1825 called Milton. In 1853 Glenkinchie goes bankrupt and the distillery becomes a sawmill for 30 years before reopening in 1881 with fresh investments from Edinburgh, 1914 with the collaboration of some other distinguished distilleries, Glenkinchie helps form Scottish Malt distillers, it later morphed into Diageo. Once opened this bottle of 1990 Distillers edition will carry the aromas of grass, roasted nuts, apple and honey, the palate is smokey, caramel, apple, chocolate and honey, with a long finish of leather, smoke, honey and cereal.
