Glenkinchie as the name suggests is situated just alongside the Kinchie burn (stream) which is 15 miles away from bustling Edinburgh. The Distillery was founded in 1837 by brothers George and John Rate, after starting their distilling on a smaller site in 1825 called Milton. In 1853 Glenkinchie goes bankrupt and the distillery becomes a sawmill for 30 years before reopening in 1881 with fresh investments from Edinburgh, 1914 with the collaboration of some other distinguished distilleries, Glenkinchie helps form Scottish Malt distillers, it later morphed into Diageo. Once opened this bottle of 1989 distillers edition will carry the aromas of cherry, sherry and oak, the palate is ginger, oak, forest berries and dry sherry with a long finish of oak, ginger and spice.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturaly: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from auctions, ballots, and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
