  • Malt type: Blended Malt
  • Region: Scotland
  • Chilfiltered: No

Islay region is well-known for its unique and interesting whiskeys, and Big Peat Green Welly Stop Edition is a great example of it. Smoke notes permeate everything, starting with the nose, which also has hints of minerals and sweet fruit. The taste is mostly sour and bitter, offset a bit by fruitiness, and the finish is short and ashy. Big Peat Green Welly Stop Edition is an interesting whisky, and definitely worth a shot. This is a small batch (only 290 bottles) of blended Islay malt. Bottled by Douglas Laing, Big Peat includes an array of Islay single malt whiskies including malts distilled at Ardbeg, Caol Ila, Bowmore, and Port Ellen. It was bottled for the Green Welly Stop, a favourite spot for tourists on their way to the Scottish Highlands.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us organically: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. But when we were interested in trying something new to stretch our palates, buying the whole bottle was too much of a commitment for us. What if we don’t like it? What would we do with the rest of the bottle?

That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy bottles from auctions, ballots, and private collections then share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
