Kilchoman 2012 Sherry Hogshead Single Cask #553

Kilchoman is a small, independent distillery located on the west coast of Islay, Scotland. Founded in 2005, it is one of the youngest distilleries on the island but has quickly established a reputation for producing high-quality single malt whiskies. Kilchoman's whiskies are known for their rich, peaty flavours and complex aromas, resulting from the distillery's use of traditional production methods and locally sourced barley. This 2012 Sherry single cask is unique in its smokey yet sherry influence. Upon opening the whiff of smokey peat are evident, flowed by dried fruits, lemon zest, old leather and machine oil, the palate is smokey peat once again, toffee, chocolate, creamy fudge and ash with a medium length finish of oak, citrus, milk chocolate and tobacco.
