About this whisky
- Region:
Distilled in September 1982 at the now-silent Glen Mhor distillery, this 27-year-old whisky represents a rare taste of Inverness history. Built in 1894 by John Birnie and uniquely positioned alongside the Caledonian Canal, Glen Mhor was a pioneer in distilling technology, notably the first to employ a Saladin box for malting. Matured for over two decades in a refill oak hogshead (cask 1348), this bottling at 55.8% ABV offers a complex character reflective of its heritage – a spirit recently rediscovered as a component of Shackleton’s lost Mackinlay’s blend. Expect a whisky imbued with the spirit of a bygone era, a testament to a distillery lost but not forgotten.
