At one point in the 1970s Tomatin was considered the largest malt distillery in Scotland, producing over 12 million litres of whisky a year they have now reduced capacity and also increased quality to produce only around 5 million litres of which 80% is for blends. So this 1995 10-year-old single malt is getting rarer and rarer also due to the fact that in 2005 the 10-year-old ceased production and was replaced with the 12-year-old. When opening this bottle you are greeted with gentle floral scents of honey and vanilla, the palate is as gentle as the nose and very smooth, with vanilla and cream but also spicy ginger with a medium finish of ginger and cream. Recommended as a pre-dinner dram to entice your appetite.
