Dingle Distillery — County Kerry Single Malt Whisky

Dingle Distillery is an Irish whiskey distillery located in Milltown, on the outskirts of Dingle, County Kerry, Ireland. It was founded in 2012 and is currently owned by the Porterhouse Group. Housed in a converted sawmill, it was one of the first independent distilleries to open in Ireland in generations and, in 2017, became the first independent Irish distillery to release a single pot still whiskey in several decades.

History

Dingle Distillery was established in 2012 by Oliver Hughes, co-founder of the Porterhouse Brewing Company, along with business partners, as part of a wider revival of independent Irish whiskey-making after decades of industry consolidation. The distillery opened on 29 November 2012 in a converted sawmill on the edge of Dingle town, using copper pot stills designed by veteran distiller John McDougall and water drawn from an onsite deep well. In its early years the distillery built its reputation and cash flow through vodka and gin production while its whiskey slowly matured in cask. That patience paid off in 2017, when Dingle released its first single pot still whiskey, marking the first such release from an independent Irish distillery in several decades and cementing Dingle's place in the modern Irish whiskey renaissance. The distillery remains part of the Porterhouse Group and continues to distil on the same site today, welcoming visitors for tours and tastings.
