Aberlour – 16 Year Old - Double Cask Matured (75cl) is a single malt whisky from Aberlour (Speyside). Aged 16 years, bottled at 40% ABV, 75cl. In 1879 James Fleming rebuilt the Aberlour Distillery further along the Spey River from the first Aberlour Distillery which had been previously destroyed due to a fire. Just shortly after, the distillery was sold to Robert Thorne & Sons and like many distilleries in the Victorian period, it was burnt down and had to be rebuilt once again in 1898. Aberlour Distillery underwent an expansion in 1973 from two to four stills, this being the year before the French group Pernod Ricard acquired the distillery alongside Campbell Distilleries. Now internally modernised, Aberlour Distillery became part of Pernod's whisky division, Chivas Brothers, in 2001 being one of the first distilleries to make bottling your whisky available to visitors. Today, These single malts are expertly crafted and made using high-quality local ingredients of barley and soft water from the close the mountain, Ben Rinnes. Aberlour 16 Year Old was double matured in traditional oak casks and fine sherry casks. This double maturation has created a depth of character.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
