Ardbeg – Drum Committee Release is a whisky from Ardbeg (Islay). Bottled at 52% ABV, 70cl. Since its establishment in 1815, The Ardbeg distillery has been on a tumultuous rollercoaster ride of ownership changes, closures, and reopening. Stability was only achieved relatively recently, when the ailing distillery was purchased in 1997 by industry giants, Glenmorangie. The subsequent years have seen the distillery’s popularity swell, with fans enticed by the signature style of tarry, sooty smoke, balanced against citric sweetness and an oily mouthfeel. While Ardbeg still retains its distinctive personality, it has definitely been influenced by Glenmorangie’s propensity for experimenting with cask finishing, and (dare we say it) NAS expressions. Drum Committee Release: To celebrate the 2019 Feis Ile, Ardbeg brought the carnival to Islay, tying in with their Caribbean themed festival bottling. The Drum is a tropical, rum finished whisky, with notes of pineapple, banana, and liquorice, so even if you were unable to attend the festivities on Islay, you could still celebrate with a party in your mouth! As has become standard practice, the final festival release was preceded by a higher strength, limited edition for Committee Members.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
