Ardbeg – Kildalton Project is a whisky from Ardbeg (Islay). Bottled at 46% ABV, 70cl. Since its establishment in 1815, The Ardbeg distillery has been on a tumultuous rollercoaster ride of ownership changes, closures, and reopening. Stability was only achieved relatively recently, when the ailing distillery was purchased in 1997 by industry giants, Glenmorangie. The subsequent years have seen the distillery’s popularity swell, with fans enticed by the signature style of tarry, sooty smoke, balanced against citric sweetness and an oily mouthfeel. While Ardbeg still retains its distinctive personality, it has definitely been influenced by Glenmorangie’s propensity for experimenting with cask finishing, and (dare we say it) NAS expressions. Kildalton Project: This is a charity bottling for the Kildalton Project (and not to be confused with the Kildalton 1980! ), which is part of the North Highland Initiative. This charity’s aim is to support fragile communities across the northern highlands and around Scotland, and proceeds from the sale of this whisky went towards building a new community hub in the town of Port Ellen. The project is named after the Kildalton cross, a monolithic high cross carved in 800AD, and located in the grounds of a ruined church on Islay’s south east coast. Please note that the inner packaging of this bottle is extremely fragile. We will endeavour to pack them as securely as possible but cannot guarantee they will survive shipping completely intact. Ardbeg themselves are aware of this issue. Please examine the images of the bottle.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
