Ardbeg – Twenty Something 22 Year Old (70cl, 46.40%)

Ardbeg – Twenty Something 22 Year Old is a single malt whisky from Ardbeg (Islay). Aged 22 years, bottled at 46.40% ABV, 70cl. Matured in bourbon casks. The 2018 edition of the Twenty Something releases, this 22-year-old expression was matured exclusively in ex-bourbon barrels and was comprised of some of the most limited stock in any Scottish distillery warehouse at the time. With the bulldozers lurking at the distillery gate and little hope for its future, very few casks were being filled and laid down. These bottlings are a testament to the faith of those who persevered with the operation, and are bottled in honour of the Ardbeg Committee whose mandate is to ensure the distillery never experiences such fears for its existence again. The ex-bourbon casks were filled in the spring of 1996 in the still that now sits monumentally outside the distillery gates, and they were bottled in July 2018. A distillery located on the south coast of the Isle of Islay. It is currently part of the Scotch whisky holdings of LVMH. Despite being closed twice in the latter 20th century, the distillery's heavily-peated single malt has always been highly-regarded.
