Famous Grouse – 15 Year Old Bill McLaren’s Famous XV is a whisky from Famous Grouse (All of Scotland). Aged 15 years, bottled at 40% ABV, 70cl. Created in 1896 by Mathew Gloag, it was initially called the Grouse Blend but the ‘Famous’ prefix was added in 1905 after the success of the brand. Owned by the Edrington Group, it is stablemates with Highland Park and Macallan and was awarded the Royal Warrant in 1984. The blenders still work by the same four fundamentals as they always have: foundation (sticking to the Gloag family traditions), finest (keeping up the high quality) flavour, (creating aroma through maturation) and fusion (perfecting the ideal blend). The Famous Grouse re-badged in honour of the late Bill McLaren, the Voice of Rugby. It was released in 1999 to commemorate Bill’s World Rugby Dream-Team.
