Hakushu – 1981 'Kioke Shikomi' Suntory Pure Malt is a single malt whisky from Hakushu (Japan). Bottled at 43.00% ABV, 75cl. This is a rare Hakushu bottling from 2005. The translation of Kioke Shikomi seems strange here because although it means “matured in a wooden tub”, kioke normally refers to a tub used for making sake. The second malt distillery to be built in Japan by Suntory, it was opened in 1973. The original facility was replaced by a new one in 1981 and it has the ability to produce a range of different spirit styles. The Hakushu single malt brand tends to showcase its peated production however. Condition: Label: age-related discolouration and wear to front label edges.
