Description
Aged by the Sea on Islay’s Rocky Coast
Bring the unmistakable spirit of Scotland’s most distinctively peated single malt straight to your walls. This premium stave wall plaque began its journey on the rocky south coast of Islay, where it spent over three decades inside a seaside warehouse soaking up the Atlantic salt air, brine, and rich peat smoke. Crafted from a single, irreplaceable oak cask stave filled in 1990 (Cask No. 9759), this historic artifact has been beautifully upcycled and restored in our independent workshop near the Highlands and Lowlands border.
Engraved Craftsmanship & Deep Char Patina
This is not a print or a generic factory reproduction. Every line of this plaque is completely real, carrying over thirty years of Islay distilling history within its rugged grain. To honor its incredible provenance, the distillery name and legendary vintage year (1990. LAPHROAIG) are permanently engraved directly into the face of the oak. We carefully hand-sand the stave to preserve its hard-earned warehouse patina, highlighting the warm honey tones of the timber alongside the deep, subtle charring left on the cask’s interior.
The Ultimate Gift for the Peat-Head
The elegant, natural curvature of the original barrel stave gives this plaque a beautiful three-dimensional profile that sits proudly on any wall. Its slim, minimalist format effortlessly complements modern industrial layouts, cozy farmhouse interiors, or traditional rustic decors. It creates an instant atmosphere when hung:
Above a home bar, drinks cabinet, or private tasting snug
Creating a bold focal point behind a dedicated whisky shelf
Adding warmth and character to an office, study, or man cave
For the enthusiast whose collection leans heavily toward rich, smoky drams, this plaque isn’t just decor—it’s a piece of the island they love. It makes a spectacular, high-end gift for weddings, retirements, housewarmings, or Father’s Day.
