Locke’s 1980’s Pure Pot Still (75cl, 40%)

Kilbeggan’s license to distil dates back to 1757 but much like many distilleries in Ireland in the early 20th century went into deep financial difficulties and ceased operations in 1957. Half a century later in 2007 the distillery was refurbished and commenced operations once more, a true rise from the dead. This 1980s release is a true rarity, once opened the aromas of barley, oak and treacle meet your nose, and the palate is fruity and metallic with a short finish of vanilla, peat and oak.
