Macallan – 8 Year Old is a single malt whisky from Macallan (Speyside). Aged 8 years, bottled at 43.00% ABV, 75cl. Matured in sherry casks. When Macallan assumed the responsibility for their own bottlings from Campbell, Hope & King in 1980, they inherited an 8-, 10- and 12-year-old age-statement release. The 8-year-old was primarily for the Italian market and was outlasted in production by its elder siblings. These are highly sought-after now. These plastic-capped versions were found in the Italian and Spanish markets between 1981 and 1984. Crown jewel of the Edrington Group and one of the best-known names in single malt Scotch, made famous by the legendary status of much of the whisky it has produced over the years, including its Fine & Rare series, Anniversary malts and flagship annual 18-year-old release.
