Macallan – Edition No.5 is a single malt whisky from Macallan (Speyside). Bottled at 48.5% ABV, 70cl. The Macallan distillery, established in 1824 in Easter Elchies, Craigellachie, Speyside, is one of Scotland's most celebrated single malt producers. The Edition series was launched to explore the role of exceptional oak casks in creating the natural colour and character of The Macallan's whisky. Edition No.5 is the fifth release in this annual series and was produced in collaboration with the Pantone Color Institute, with the resulting bottling presented in a distinctive shade of purple developed exclusively for the expression. Only American oak casks were used in its production — a combination of first-fill and second-fill hogsheads, barrels and butts (hogshead 37%, barrel 33%, butt 30%) — bottled at 48.5% ABV with 100% natural colour and no chill-filtration.
