Nikka – From The Barrel 50cl is a whisky from Nikka. Bottled at 51.4% ABV, 50cl. The Nikka whisky company was founded in 1934 by Masataka Taketsuru, with the creation of his Yoichi distillery on the island of Hokkaido. Arguably the “grandfather” of Japanese whisky, Taketsuru learned his trade studying Organic Chemistry at The University of Glasgow in 1918, before apprenticing at Longmorn, and laterally Hazelburn distilleries. With humble beginnings, producing apple juice and cider to keep the cash flowing whilst the whisky came of age, Nikka has grown to become one of the best known names in Japanese whisky. In addition to their Japanese operations, Nikka also owns Ben Nevis distillery, and ships malt whisky from the distillery back to Japan for use in it’s Nikka Black expression. This feisty blend picked up honours at the World Whisky Awards in 2007 and 2010. Deservedly so, we say. Please note minor creasing to box. Please examine the images of the bottle.
