Wolfburn ‘From The Stills’ Christmas edition 2019

Wolfburn is the northernmost Whisky distillery on the Scottish mainland and derives its name from the burn (stream) from which it takes its waters named Wolf. Originally the distillery opening was in 1821 just 350 meters from its current location and by the 1870’s it was marked in an ordinance survey map as a ruin. In 2012 approval was gained to build the new Wolfburn distillery which is the one producing at present. In 2017 the first Christmas release was out as a way of a rebranding of the winter seasonal series which wasn’t selling as well as the Spring, Summer and Autumn editions as there were fewer visitors at the distillery during the Winter, this was a huge success and became an annual tradition at Wolfburn. Upon opening the aromas of autumn fruit and berries with an undertone of peat, the palate is almost like a Christmas cake filled with marzipan, sultanas, Christmas spice and oak, with a long smooth finish of toffee, almonds and oak. In the Christmas spirit indeed.
