Dalmore – 1995 - Castle Leod - Home of Clan Mackenzie is a single malt whisky from Dalmore (Highland). Bottled at 46% ABV, 70cl. Finished in 1st Cru Classé Bordeaux Barriques (18 months).
Dalmore distillery is situated on the shores of the Cromarty Firth in Alness, Ross-shire, in the Northern Highlands of Scotland. The distillery's iconic stag's head emblem pays tribute to the Mackenzie clan, who owned Dalmore for almost a century, and whose coat of arms features a royal stag.
The Castle Leod expression is the second in a series of limited edition special releases, created by Master Distiller Richard Paterson in homage to Castle Leod, the historic seat of Clan Mackenzie. Distilled in 1995, this single malt was initially matured in American white oak and Spanish sherry wood before being transferred for a final 18 months into barriques from a 1st Cru Classé Bordeaux château. Bottled at 46% ABV, a portion of proceeds from the sale of this bottling was contributed to support the restoration of Castle Leod.
