Fettercairn Distillery, established in 1825 amidst the Royal Deeside hills, crafts a spirit rooted in tradition yet subtly innovative. This expression, distilled in 2009 and bottled in 2021, showcases the distillery’s unique character – a firm, nutty base born from traditional methods like wooden washbacks and uniquely, soap grinders integrated into the stills. Matured in first-fill Rye and Bourbon barrels, it presents a complex profile with notes of pot ale alongside a surprising lightness achieved through a distinctive cooling system. The result is a 48.5% ABV whisky offering a captivating balance of robust flavour and refined elegance, reflective of its Scottish Highland origins.
