Highland Park – Vintage Collection 1978 (70cl, 47.8%)

Highland Park – Vintage Collection 1978 is a single malt whisky from Highland Park (Islands). Aged 18 years, bottled at 47.8% ABV, 70cl. Highland Park is known for being the most Northern Scotch Whisky Distillery in the world. It is situated on the outskirts of the biggest town in Orkney 58.9847°N. It is so far North it is almost in the Arctic circle. To give you an idea, it is on the same latitude as Anchorage, Alaska. The distillery has been distilling in the same site since 1798 where the founder, Magnus Eunson's, original illicit still was at High Park. They smoke their own barley from over 4,000 year old peat which has been cut from the Hobbister Moor only seven miles from the distillery. This 1978 vintage Highland Park was bottled as part of the Vintage Collection which was made exclusively for Global Travel Retail. This bottling pays tribute to the Viking craftmanship and wanderlust whose spirits live on in today's travellers.
