Lagavulin – Pedro Ximenez Finish - Distillers Edition 2022 is a single malt whisky from Lagavulin (Islay). Bottled at 43% ABV, 70cl. Lagavulin is said to be one of the oldest distilleries on Islay and is world-renowned for its smoky, peaty whiskies. It is situated on Islay's south coast where legal distilling started in 1816 by John Johnson. The distillery was then moved into the hands of the Mackie's who launched White Horse into export markets. White Horse Distillers became part of DCL in 1927 just shortly before the Distillery was closed in 1942 for the remainder of WWII. Later, Lagavulin 16 joined the Classic Malts portfolio in 1989 and ever since has been a great success. This single malt is the 2022 release of Lagavulin Distillers Edition. It has been double matured, firstly in re-fill American and European oak casks, before being finished in re-charged American oak PX sherry casks.
