Akashi 5 Year Old is a Japanese single malt matured for five years in a first fill bourbon barrel and bottled at 50% in a 50cl bottle. It is non-chill-filtered and has no added colour.
The nose opens with peach and nectarine, followed by creamy vanilla and jelly sweets. On the palate there are hints of banana and freshly sanded wood alongside charred oak and toasted sourdough, giving a thick, mouth-filling texture. The finish is lingering, rounded out with dried stone fruit.
