Amahagan World Malt Whisky Edition No.4 Yamazakura Wood Finish (70cl, 47%)

A Japanese malt whisky from the Amahagan series, bottled at 47% in a 70cl bottle. It is based on Edition No.1, a blend of malt from Nagahama Distillery with overseas malt, and is then given a further period of maturation in Yamazakura, a wild cherry wood native to Japan. The whisky is reddish amber in colour. It keeps the malty sweetness of the Nagahama malt and adds a gentle, fragrant, wood-like character. On the nose it is sweet and soft, with wild cherry blossom. The palate recalls sakura mochi and plum, with orange peel and black honey, and a sweetness that spreads across the mouth. The finish is gentle, with a light astringency like black tea.
