Ardbeg – 25 Year Old 2023 (70cl)

This is a 25 year old single malt from Ardbeg on Islay, part of the distillery's core range. It was distilled during a turbulent period for the distillery and aged for over two decades in carefully selected casks. The nose combines smoky cream, peppermint, toffee, fennel and pine resin, with bonfire smoke, banana, tropical fruit and soft candle wax behind. The palate opens with pepper and sherbet lemon, then candied apple, orange, pear, carbolic soap, tar, aniseed and a light chilli warmth. The finish is long and soothing, with creamy fudge.
