Ardbeg 25 Year Old is an Islay single malt from the distillery founded in 1815, and the oldest age-stated bottling in its core range, which it joined in 2021. It is drawn from ex-bourbon casks filled in the late 1980s and early 1990s, and is bottled at 46% without chill filtration, in a gun metal silver bottle inside a silver caged tin.
The nose brings smoked cream, peppermint and toffee with fennel, pine resin, banana and tropical fruit. On the palate it is peppery, with sherbet lemon, candied apple, pear and orange over toffee, aniseed and a little tar. The finish is long and mellow, with cream, fudge and light antiseptic notes.
