An 8 year old Islay single malt from Ardbeg, in a 70cl bottle. It is a youthful, deliberately intense peated whisky made on the island's rugged coast.
The nose runs from charcoal, treacle toffee, fennel and creosote to celery, green pepper, milk chocolate, aniseed and woodsmoke. With water, sea spray, waxed citrus, coal tar, beeswax and pine come through. The palate is peppery, moving to eucalyptus, salted caramel chocolate and menthol. The finish is long, with clove, peppermint, smoked bacon, burnt toast and tar.
