Ardbeg – Supernova SN2015 Committee Release (70cl, 54.3%)

Ardbeg Supernova SN2015 is a non-chill-filtered Islay single malt at 54.3%, in a 70cl bottle. It carries no age statement and is described as one of the peatiest whiskies around, at 100ppm. This is the final Committee bottling of Supernova, bringing Ardbeg's experiment in space to a close. It was released alongside Dr Bill Lumsden's White Paper on zero gravity maturation. The colour is pale gold. The nose is peppery aromatic herbs, smoked fruits, briny seaweed, fennel and vetiver root, with linseed oil, smoked toffee, brazil nuts and soot once water is added. The palate has spice, salted caramel, smoke, medicinal notes, aniseed, tar and chilli. The finish is long and peppery.
