Ardbeg – Supernova SN2015 Committee Release (70cl, 54.3%)

Ardbeg Supernova SN2015 is a Committee release of Islay single malt, bottled at 54.3% in a 70cl bottle and non-chill-filtered. It is the final Committee bottling of Supernova, which marks the end of Ardbeg's experiment in space. Its release coincides with Dr Bill Lumsden's White Paper on maturation in zero gravity. The peat level is given as 100ppm, and the whisky is described as both intensely spicy and very sweet. The nose has peppery herbs, smoked fruits, seaweed, fennel and vetiver, with linseed oil and smoked toffee once water is added. On the palate come spice, salted caramel, smoke, medicinal notes, aniseed, tar and chilli, followed by a long, peppery finish.
