Ardbeg Traigh Bhan is a 19 year old Islay single malt and the oldest regular release from the distillery. It is issued in small annual batches, each from a different selection of casks. This is Batch 02, bottled in 2020 at 46.2% ABV, non-chill-filtered and of natural colour, in a 70cl bottle.
The whisky matured in American oak and Oloroso sherry casks. The name comes from the Singing Sands beach near the distillery.
The nose leads with fresh lime, roasted tea leaves and smoked pineapple over peat that has softened into incense and dry ash. The palate is rounded and layered, with tropical fruit, dried fruit and nuttiness from the Oloroso, vanilla, and a gentle smoke beneath. The finish is long, with tea, citrus peel and soft smoke.
